Clay has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My mum is a potter, so growing up around pottery, creativity and the process of making things by hand always felt very natural to me.
I come from a long line of craftspeople. A little digging into my family history with the help of a friend uncovered generations of makers, including hat makers and shoemakers, with traditional crafts dating back as far as 1850. I love the thought that working with my hands is something that has been passed down through the generations.
For many years, pottery was simply a hobby, something I enjoyed alongside a working life spent largely in front of a computer in the city. It wasn’t until I moved to the countryside that I really began to reconnect with my creativity. Surrounded by nature, with a slower pace of life and space to notice the little things, I found myself feeling inspired to make again.
Around seven years ago, I began making and selling my own ceramics, and what started as a hobby has gradually grown into the small business I continue to nurture today.
My work is influenced by the natural world, the changing seasons and the simple beauty of everyday objects. I enjoy the process of working with clay, allowing each piece to develop its own character, with the subtle variations and imperfections that make handmade pottery so special.
